Here is a list of some very useful addons for FireFox (get it free here), listed in order of usefulness:

• SEOQuake - View the Google PR, Alexa Rank in this bar; the number of pages of this website that are indexed in Google, MSN and Yahoo are shown all at once.
  
• Cooliris - Preview another page from any page.
  
• AngleBracket - Get notified of new AngleBracket posts and breaking news from around the world, includes webmaster links. Customizable to include weather forecast, email notification, gadgets, and more
• Google NoteBook extension - Take notes to your Google NoteBook from any page.
• Measureit! - useful for measuring your screen in pixels
• IE Tab - View webpages with MSIE that is embedded in Firefox. Very useful for checking if pages work in both browsers
  
• FireBug - Error console with editing and debugging abilities
  
• ColorZilla - Advanced color picker letting you revealing the color code for the any element on the screen

Firefox 2.0 vs. Internet Explorer 7

Everyone's talking about Firefox 2. Microsoft has released its newest version of Internet explorer -- IE 7. What's the difference? Both have tabs, integrated search boxes and streamlined appearances.

If you haven't updated Windows yet, make sure you don't include IE7 in your update (you could if want to test it). It takes forever to install and after you restart your computer, you have to wait twenty minutes to half an hour for it to install.

• IE 7 has improved support for CSS, which is relief for some, but others will see their pages broken. (You can use IE 7 conditional comments, for those of you with broken pages.)
  

• Tabs are the most useful new feature in IE7, and integrated search is just one of the other features that Microsoft had to implement in order to keep up with the features Mozilla packaged with Firefox long ago. However, Microsoft and Mozilla do the same things differently. Take tabs for example--with Firefox, tabs take only a split second to open; sadly, IE7's tabs take an entire second to load. For most of us, that's a Long, Long, Time.

• Firefox's add-ons are numerous--simply because Firefox has supported add-ons for a longer period of time. IE7 will take quite a while to catch up with FF's number of extensions.

• IE7 crashes more often than Firefox and this is the greatest reason for using Firefox.

Bottom line: Firefox wins.

Free online FTP clients

Online FTP clients can come in handy when working on machines without FTP installed (e.g. the library computer or a friend's computer), or when you just don't feel like opening another window. :-)

I've found these FTP clients to be pretty useful when I find myself in one of the above
situations:

FF 2's Tab Restore let you quickly reopen the tabs you've closed by going to History>Recently Closed Tabs and you can easily get back the website.
